Library
LSHS library is situated on the ground floor of the main building with a central location, easily accessible to all students. The library is a calm, vibrant and welcoming space. We have a wonderful photographic display around the library showing the school when it first opened in 1959, and school events up until the present day.
The library offers a supportive, relaxed and comfortable environment whilst upholding the school values and focusing on the students’ wellbeing as well as having new, relevant and contemporary books. The library has a computer area where students can complete and print homework. The library is used for research, revision and study, but most importantly used to read for pleasure which is hugely encouraged at LSHS. With over 6,500 up-to-date books there is an abundance of fiction and non-fiction books for students to choose from.

We encourage students to join our Carnegie Shadowing and The Enrich Book Group in conjunction with the other Academies in the MAT, this gives students a broader knowledge of new authors emerging. In conjunction with the English Department, KS3 students have half-term library lessons. We celebrate World Book Day, and not forgetting our annual Readathon to raise money for children in hospital to be able to have access to books and authors. The library is a dynamic space where we welcome children to come and read explore the vast range of books.
