ASDAN
ASDAN’s personal development program offers a GCSE alternative which enables learners to succeed at secondary school through the development of core skills and positive attributes. The course is in place to boost academic attainment through a variety of flexible modules. All students will develop a plethora of skills across the course with emphasis on developing their personal, independent living and employability skills. The personal development program is completely coursework based around 12 modules ranging from communication and sport and leisure to number handling and science and technology to cater for a variety of interests.
ASDAN uses a variety of learning methods however practical, hands-on learning is of great importance. For this reason, several of the activities are completed as small trips into the local community to highlight real world environments. An example of this would be visiting St Mary’s church in Long Stratton to learn about the importance of understanding different beliefs and values.
