At Long Stratton High School, our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education) and RE (Religious Education) curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to lead healthy, purposeful, and meaningful lives. Below is an overview of the curriculum, which highlights our commitment to fostering personal growth, ethical understanding, and respect for diversity.

Year 7

  • RE: What is a worldview? Exploring how individuals and groups interpret the world around them.

Year 8

  • PSHE: What skills do I need to stay safe and belong? Exploring safety, community, and belonging.
  • RE: How do beliefs about death shape the purpose of life? Understanding how different religions and philosophies view death and its impact on life’s purpose.

Year 9

  • PSHE: How can I have healthy relationships? Developing communication, empathy, and relationship skills.
  • RE: Can life have purpose without religion? Examining secular and religious perspectives on purpose.

Year 10

  • PSHE: How can I make healthy choices? Focus on physical and mental well-being, decision-making, and risk management.
  • RE: Is the sanctity of life more important than the quality of life? Investigating ethical dilemmas and moral reasoning.

Year 11

  • PSHE: How does money work? Learning financial literacy and planning for the future.
  • RE: What do Christians believe about justice? Exploring Christian teachings on justice and how they apply to contemporary issues.
